Pepin

Louis the German gets east of Lotharingia
Charles the Bald gets west
Pepin II, son of Pepin I above, gets the short stick--Aquitaine but under Charles' overlordship

Lothar dies, his sons divvy it up some more

Charles gets Provence, later divided between his brothers
Lother II gets the rest, Lotharingia named after him
